Meet Frank, our Robot!

Michigan State Champs - Heading to Worlds April 2024

My nickname  is short for Frankenstein, because I am made from a lot of spare parts!

I am the current Technados #7693 Robot for 2024-2025. And I am very excited to be heading to the World Championship in Houston in April! The kids and I have had a great time building, learning code and competing this year. From the kids prototyping me with a Captain Crunch Box to my current state all of that hard work has really paid off.

…speaking of being paid off, if you have not already, we would love your support from a donation or a point-of-contact with your company HR! Getting to the worlds is not cheap. To save money I am evening thumbing a ride with the “Big Kid” FRC Robots from Clarkston Team RUSH FRC 27 – AVR 27A. They are my role model for what I want to be when I grow up!

If you are curious, I have a British accent! It is from my mom’s side of the family.

Interesting fact! My great grandfather was Mr. Roboto! Some guys in a band called Styx sung about him once. He would often hum the song:

どうもありがとうミスターロボット (Dōmo arigatō misutā robotto)
また会う日まで (Mata au hi made)
どうもありがとうミスターロボット (Dōmo arigatō misutā robotto)
秘密を知りたい (Himitsu o shiritai)

Thank you very much, Mr. Roboto
Until the day we meet again
Thank you very much, Mr. Roboto
I want to know your secret

The history behind the name Frank is a two fold story. Firstly, one of our senior mentors is our original coach’s father, and his name is Frank, so in using his name we unite the generations of Technados to make our unified legacy. The second part to Frank’s name comes with how he was built. Frank happens to be a medley of our old robot parts, both successful and failed designs that we reworked and reconfigured to make our State Championship winning robot. His name therefore being short for Frankenstein.
